brunch!

flying fig

cleveland, ohio | ohio city

Located in the heart of Ohio City, the Flying Fig, a small eatery and bar, is one of my favorite places to grab brunch or a small bite to eat. It is also one of my favorite places to grab a spot at the bar and enjoy happy hour. One of the many reasons I love this place so much is their effort to offer locally sourced foods with a true farm to fork environment. The Flying Fig prides itself on supporting local small family farms. Karen Small, owner and head chef, is also a semi-finalist for the 2018 James Beard Foundation Best Chef: Great Lakes. Definitely well deserved. If you go when it isn’t too busy (which is rare) and the weather is nice, grab one of the few tables outside on their patio. Some of my favorites here: avocado toast, trio of toast, tofu banh mi bowl and the polenta. So so good!

fire food & drink

If you've been to Fire Food & Drink, then there's a 99.9% chance you've met Chef Douglas which is one of the many, many reasons Fire is a favorite of mine. Chef Douglas prides himself on getting to know the people who walk through his doors. He will take time out of the kitchen to carry on conversations throughout the restaurant. He also prides himself on the locally sourced, upscale American cuisine menu he and his team have created there. The service has always been welcoming and very kind which is a must when I am out to eat. Although Fire does serve dinner (which is very good!), I am biased on the weekend brunch. There is not a bad food item on that menu. My favorites: breakfast pizza and cauliflower hash.

jack flaps

cleveland, ohio | ohio city

Known to be creative for their unique twists on fan favorite breakfast/brunch dishes like pancakes and waffles or eggs, Jack Flaps rightfully earns its spot as a favorite weekend brunch in Cleveland. The breakfast burrito is a must, but you can’t go to Jack Flaps and not try the pancakes or waffles. So go with a big appetite, and get both! The original location in Ohio City is a quaint place so expect to get cozy. Service is excellent. Food is excellent. What more could you ask for? Jack Flaps has nearly perfected the sweet or savory breakfast concept. Add it to your list now!
